Why are we taking a Finance course to Israel?

  • Israel is considered the next Silicon Valley.  It’s been dubbed “Silicon Wadi” and the “Start Up Nation
  • BBC even had a recent article on it!
  • Start-ups need investors: Israel has more venture capital per capita than any other country
  • In 2010 Israel attracted $170 per person compared to $75 in the US
  • Israel had more companies listed on the 2012 NASDAQ than any other country outside the U.S. (except China)
  • FINA 3101 is a required course for GWSB Finance students – Why not make a trip of it?!

What are we going to do in Israel?

  • Watch the info session prezi!

  • Stay in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa
  • Consider this a Career Trek to Israel: 12-14 business visits throughout your time in Israel!
  • Potential companies: VC funds (JVP, Magma, Aleph, Pitango, Carmel Ventures Elevator Fund, Mutual Funds, Banks, Israel Securities Authority, Start Ups (BillGuard, CallVU), Multinationals, Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Berkshire, Iscar, Google, etc.)
  • Potential cultural visits: Old city tours in Tel Aviv & Jerusalem, museum visits, visit Masada at sunrise, and swim in the Dead Sea
  • Eat delicious food: Israeli breakfast every day, a welcome dinner on the beach, Alumni/Networking dinner – to name a few meals!  (Some meals are on your own.)
  • Free time to explore Israel’s rich culture on your own!

Is it safe?

  • Some would say they feel safer in Israel than they do in Washington, D.C.  For your safety, the group will not be traveling to the West Bank.

Please note: This course is not limited to Finance students – any student at GW can enroll in it if they are currently in or have completed BADM 3501.

Extended Application Deadline: Monday, March 3rd, 2014

If you have any questions on applying, contact Helen Iasnik at hiasnik@gwu.edu.

**Important: If you are interested in this program – you cannot have taken or currently be enrolled in FINA 3101.  You will register for this program as a Summer 2014 course.
